Black Friday

After Thanksgiving dinner, Mark, Lisa, and I decided to go Black Friday shopping at Target.  It was exhausting!  I don't know what possessed an 8 month pregnant lady to want to go after working a 9 1/2 hour shift!

Here's what we scored!  Mostly we go to Target every year to find TV series on DVD.  This year they didn't have all of the latest seasons on sale! I was bummed.  But we still found some we wanted.  There were even a couple of things I found for the baby.  Mark mentioned that from now on, we won't be shopping for us anymore.  I can't wait!  We also got telestrations.  If you haven't played it, you need to!  It is so fun.  It's kind of like the game of telephone meets pictionary.

By the time we got home my feet were so sore, and my ankles were swollen.  I couldn't even walk anymore.  Overall, we shopped for an hour, and then waited an hour in line.

The next morning we got to sleep in which was so nice!  Then we decided to hit up the Nike factory store since Mark needed some new shoes.  Everything in store was an extra 20% off.  Mark got some new shoes, a pair of pants, and a pair of shorts.  I got some new shoes, and some workout clothes.  Maybe it'll motivate to work out after the baby with my new gear!

Earlier in the week, Lisa and I also shopped some week-long Black Friday sales.  Everything at Carter's was 50% off all week long, so I bought an outfit and some socks for the baby.  We have lots of clothes for her until she's 6 months old, but not too much for after that.  I thought this outfit was so cute, but it was so hard to buy one that she won't fit into until she's 9 months old!

After we went to Carter's Lisa wanted to go to Banana Republic Factory Store.  I had gotten an email just that morning saying everything was up to 70% off, and I had a 15% off coupon to use on top of that.  I couldn't resist buying some clothes even though I won't be able to wear them until after the baby!  I tried them on just to make sure they'd fit, and most of them I could probably wear now but I don't want to stretch them out too much!  I found a really cute sweater cardigan that I wanted and the sign above it said 70% off.  It turned out that it was really only 30% off, so I had to pass!  After I went to work on Friday, Lisa went back and got it for me!  It was so nice of her to get it, because it's the one thing I really wanted there!

The day before Thanksgiving, Mark got me my Christmas present.  It was the last day it was on coupon at Costco, and he didn't want to miss out on the deal or get me the wrong thing.  He got me a DSLR camera that I've been wanting forever!  It's the Canon EOS Rebel T3i, and I can't wait to take pictures of our little girl with it!  It's been awhile since I've used an SLR, so now I just need to learn how to use all the features on it!  Mark said now he never has to buy me a birthday or Christmas present ever again.  We'll see how that works out for him!

I'd say we had a pretty successful (and expensive!) shopping week!

My Birthday & Thanksgiving!

I love November!  For my birthday this year Mark told me he was going to be out of town for work.  I was bummed, but we went out to dinner the Saturday before to celebrate.  I decided on Wingers, and it was yummy.  Luckily, Mark ended up not going out of town after all, so on my real birthday he surprised me and took me to Zupa's.  We are seriously addicted.  Zupa's is always our go to place to eat. When Mark got home from work, he brought be some flowers and a picture of the Salt Lake Temple to hang up in our living room.

The weekend after my birthday, we decided to paint our living room.  It was painted yellow when we moved in, and I really haven't minded the color that much, but Mark was getting bored with it.  One day we just went to home depot and grabbed all of the supplies we needed to paint!

I didn't really like it at first because it looked a little orange to me, but I think it's starting to grow on me...

Mark's sister Lisa came to visit us for a week over Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately, I had to work Thanksgiving! :(  I worked from 9-6 so all of my family made other plans for Thanksgiving.  Before I went to work, I prepped my apple pie and a few other things.

Work was INSANE!  I don't understand why so many people need to go to Walgreens on Thanksgiving day! (non-24  hour pharmacies are closed) A customer literally pried open the door 5 minutes before we opened, and everyone started coming in.  I was seriously running around for 2 hours straight before it slowed down a little.  It was such a long day.  By the time I got home, it was almost 7:00.  The turkey was almost done, and I helped finish make the rest of the food.

By the time the three of us sat down to eat, it was 7:45.  Dinner was good, but it was really different being by ourselves and eating so late.

I'm so thankful for..
my husband who works hard to provide for us
our little baby girl who will be here soon
a house we can call ours
our two cute dogs
being able to quit my after the baby comes
the gospel
being able to get pregnant so fast after my miscarriage
all of my family and friends
and all of my blessings!

So much to do, so little time!

I feel like I have so much more to do before the baby gets here!  The nursery furniture has been set up for a few weeks, but that's about it.  We have most of the big items (my travel system should be delivered any day now!) But there are a couple of big things we still need and lots of little stuff.  My baby shower is next week, so I'm hoping we will have a better idea of what we need after that.

Mark insisted that we get the Eddie Bauer travel system because he really liked them. (The depth of the cup holders and the storage had a lot to do with it--The stroller had to be good for Disneyland.)  I wanted to get a gender neutral one, but there weren't any that I particularly liked.  I decided on this gray/pink one because I really liked the colors.  If we have a boy next time I will see if I can cover it or something.

I only have 8 more weeks!  It sounds like such a long time, but I'm hoping it will be here before I know it!  I can't wait to be done with work.. It's getting so tiring.  I still need to figure out what I'm going to do afterwards.  My original plan was to just quit as soon as my maternity leave was over, but now that I started getting my pharmacy hours in, I'm not sure what to do.  I need to get 180 hours in the pharmacy before the end of next year and it will be a whole lot easier to get the hours if I'm still working.  As of right now I only have 12!  :O

Last week at our house was spent watching the world series.  Mark was so excited for the Giants to be in it again, and I don't think he really thought they would win it all again!  Needless to say, he went crazy when they won!

Halloween was pretty laid back this year.  I had to work that night, so Mark was left at home to pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters.  I thought I bought candy late enough for it to be eaten, but Mark proved me wrong.  (I ate some too.. but not as much!)  Luckily, we had 2 pieces of candy left at the end of the night!

Fall

I'm so excited to start this new weather! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year--not too hot, not too cold. And I swear the air is just more fresh! This weekend Mark and I are going camping again. One of his favorite things to do since buying our trailer. If he could go out every weekend, he would!

We have gone camping 5 times this year--4 times with our trailer. It is really nice to get away for the weekend and still have all the amenities of hime. (Especially the toilet.. I would die without one being preggo and all!)

Mark is sad to have to pack up the trailer for the fall/winter, but I am so excited for the next couple of months!

Here's some pictures of our adventures this summer!

It's a GIRL!

I know most everyone already knows that we're having a girl by now, but I am so excited for her to come!  I had to wait until I was 24 weeks to get my anatomy ultrasound because with Mark's new job, we didn't get insurance until September.  We went to Fetal Fotos to get an ultrasound done at 17 weeks, though, because I couldn't wait.  They said it was a girl, but I wanted to be extra sure because the ultrasond pictures were kind of difficult to see!

The ultrasound from the doctor's office was A LOT better quality, and since I was further along, you can definitely see a girl there!

Only 15 more weeks to go!

We are expecting a baby on December 31st!  We are so excited!

9 weeks

I really thought i would be announcing this news a little bit earlier, though.  Here's the story:

I found out I was pregnant on January 17.  (I only remember this because it was Martin Luther King Jr. day) It had only been a month since I stopped taking birth control.  I was so excited!  Our baby was going to be around the same age as some of our friends.

I made the doctor's appointment for February 20th--An entire month away!  The wait was sooo long I could barely stand it.  When it finally came I was so anxious..  We filled out all of our info and did the math with the doctor to figure that I was 10 weeks along.  The doctor got us in to do an ultrasound so we could hopefully get an accurate date.

However, we couldn't see a baby.  Just a sac that the baby should have been in.  The doctor said no big deal, maybe you're not as far along as you think and maybe only 6 weeks.  He sent me to go get some bloodwork done to test my HCG levels and told me to come back in two days to do it again.

As soon as we got in the car to go home, I burst out crying--I knew I couldn't be only 6 weeks because I had found out I was pregnant 5 weeks before that.  So, not possible.  Especially since  (if you understand how pregnancy works) when you are 6 weeks pregnant, the baby has really only beent there for 4 weeks.

I went back in to do more blood work 2 days later and then for a transvaginal  ultrasound the day after that.  When I got into the ultrasound room, the tech told me my HCG levels did indeed drop.  That confirmed what I already knew.  She went ahead and did the ultrasound, and we could see something on the screen.  There was no life.  The baby had stopped growing 4 weeeks earlier (around 6 weeks.) We talked with one of the doctors, (my doctor was delivering a baby at the time) and I got a D&C the next day.

So here we are only 4 1/2 months later, and I am 15 weeks pregnant now!  I was so lucky to get pregnant again on the first try, and I am so grateful.  I can't wait to meet this little one.  Only 25 more weeks to go!

Lately

It's been awhile since I've done this whole blogging thing but I've made it a goal to start blogging more often if I can.
There has been a lot going on lately and it seems like the last couple of months have just zoomed by! It feels so much like summer already that I can't wait for the nice weather.Everyone came over to our house for Easter last month to have dinner. The kids got to color eggs and had a lot of fun.

On the 21st we celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday. We had it at our church and I ended up making yummy cupcakes! We had a great turnout, and my sister Krystal came down from Idaho with Sidney and Avry. I haven't seen them for awhile and they are getting so big. Sidney's voice is starting to change! We also finally ventured out to City Creek. We went on a Monday and it was perfect! We took trax which was really nice because it stops right in front of City Creek and we didn't have to try to park downtown.
